Tenerife has two airports, and the first time you travel to the island, that can give you quite a few scares. They aren’t two terminals within the same complex: they’re 54 kilometres in a straight line, at opposite ends, and the only thing connecting them is a bus route.

Tenerife North (TFN) is located in San Cristóbal de La Laguna, 10 km from Santa Cruz, and serves both the islands and the mainland: almost half of its traffic consists of flights to and from the rest of the archipelago. Tenerife South (TFS) is in Granadilla de Abona, next to the southern hotel district, and is the international airport: it serves three times as many destinations with fewer flights.
