From the airports in Tenerife to Santa Cruz

Which route serves it, from which airport, how long does it take, and what to do if there’s no bus.

From the airports in Tenerife to Santa Cruz

The capital, with the transport hub where almost all the island’s buses and the tram interconnect.

Santa Cruz is the best-connected destination on the whole island, but from each airport on a different route: the 20 from the north and the 10 from the south. The difference between the two is huge, and it’s worth bearing in mind: from the north, the journey takes about 20 minutes and there’s a bus every quarter of an hour until well past midnight; from the south, it takes nearly an hour and buses run roughly every 40 minutes.

They both end up in the Santa Cruz bus station, which is the transport hub for almost all the buses on the island and where the tram connects with La Laguna. If you need to travel on to another part of Tenerife, that’s the place to change.

If the bus isn’t any use to you

If the bus doesn’t suit your timetable, the other options from the terminal are the taxi —picked up at the arrivals hall, without a booking, charged by the meter—, a private transfer at a fixed price, or a car hire, which, on an island the size of Tenerife, makes quite a difference to the journey.
