What is Tenerife North Airport?
The airport at Tenerife North – La Laguna City sits in the municipality of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, 10 km from Santa Cruz, on a plateau more than 600 metres above sea level. That altitude is its most distinctive feature and explains something that surprises people when they land: fog. The sea of clouds over northern Tenerife frequently drifts over the runway, and is the usual cause of delays and the occasional diversion to the south.
It is the airport serving both the islands and the mainland. Almost half of its traffic consists of flights to other parts of the archipelago, and its main mainland destination is Madrid, with over a million passengers a year according to Aena.

How to get out of Tenerife North
- Route 20 — the bus from the North Airport to Santa Cruz and La Laguna.
