How to get from one airport in Tenerife to the other
The two airports are nearly 60 kilometres apart and there is only one direct route between them. It’s worth bearing this in mind before you book.
The two airports are 53.7 km in a straight line. By road it is more, and the figure that really counts is the bus journey time, which comes from the official timetable.
It’s the question that costs the most in Tenerife. The two airports are 54 kilometres as the crow flies and quite a bit further by road, at opposite ends of the island, and there is only one bus route that links them directly: the 343.
The 343 runs from Puerto de la Cruz to Costa Adeje, passing through both airports, and the journey from one end to the other takes around two hours. It is not a frequent service: there are just over a dozen departures a day in each direction, so cannot be improvised — if your connection depends on it, check the timetable beforehand.
The alternative if you’re not driving is to change at Santa Cruz: take line 20 to the transport hub and then line 10 southbound, or vice versa. It usually takes about the same time and offers more timetable options. By taxi, the journey is expensive, and this is precisely the kind of situation where a private transfer pays off most.
A tip to save you a lot of hassle: If your outbound flight arrives at one airport and your return flight departs from another, please check this when you book, not the day before. It’s an easy mistake to make because both airports are called ‘Tenerife’.

If the bus doesn’t suit your timetable, the other options from the terminal are the taxi —picked up at the arrivals hall, without a booking, charged by the meter—, a private transfer at a fixed price, or a car hire, which, on an island the size of Tenerife, makes quite a difference to the journey.
